Return to School Plan 2021

Dear Parents and Guardians,

I hope everyone has had a relaxing and enjoyable summer.  The start of the school year is upon us and I wanted to share with you what we can expect for the upcoming school year.  Over the past few weeks, we have spent time reviewing guidance from the Center for Disease Control (CDC), the Illinois Department of Education (ISBE), and the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH), as well as the Winnebago Health Department (WHD). Governor JB Pritzker announced an Executive Order today at 2:30 P.M. that requires that masks be worn indoors by all teachers, staff, students, and visitors to K-12 schools, regardless of vaccination status.

Attached you will find our Board-approved Return to School Guidance, with a few specific details that will be in place for the beginning of the school year:

  • Masks will be required for all students and staff indoors regardless of vaccination status (including current Summer School students)

  • Everyone who rides the school bus will be required to wear a mask

  •  The School District will follow the same cleaning protocols that were in place from the last school year

  • We are returning to 5 days a week of regular instruction.  The student schedules are listed below:

    • Simon 8:05 - -2:40 pm

    • McNair - 7:55 - 2:50 pm

    • Middle School - 7:55 - 2:50 pm

    • High School - 7:55 - 2:50 pm

The top priority of our School District is to make sure we have a healthy and safe learning environment for our students and staff.  Please let me know if you have any questions.  We are extremely excited about seeing all of our students return back to school.

Regards,

John Schwuchow

Winnebago Superintendent
