WINNEBAGO – Winnebago is hosting a new student registration in each school office on Wed., August 12, 2009 from 8:00 a.m.-3:00p.m.
School physicals needed for students

Now is the time to schedule your child's physical! Summer appointment times fill up fast. If you have a child entering pre-school, kindergarten, sixth grade, or ninth grade, a full* physical examination is required to be on file before starting school. Physicals are due by the first day of student attendance on Aug. 26, 2009.

Retiring Teachers have taught generations of children at Winnebago

Winnebago staff and students bid farewell to retiring staff members. The retirees taught collectively for over 190 years at Winnebago. Through these years of teaching they are seeing former students return to their classrooms – as parents of current students.

The school district will not take parental requests for your child's teacher for next year nor can we honor requests to make sure students are not placed in the same classroom with your child. These requests will only be taken as "parental advisement" by the teacher and principal and will not be guaranteed.
School supply kits ready for pick up Aug. 12

If you ordered School Supply kits, the kits will be available for pick-up on Wed., Aug. 12 in the Dorothy Simon Elementary gym from 12:00 -5:00 p.m.
Fourth graders host Poetry Café

Fourth graders at Jean McNair Elementary School hosted Poetry Cafes. During the month of April, students at Jean McNair Elementary created original poems in celebration of Poetry Month.
"Are You Smarter Than A Fifth Grader" winners announced

Over 150 people came to watch, compete and determine if they were smarter than a fifth grader at the First Annual Winnebago CUSD #323 “Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader” event on March 17. The free, family fun activity had 22 teams answering questions submitted by fourth and fifth grade students.
