Jean McNair Olympic Winners

McNair students have been going for the gold! Students have participated in a 5 week Olympics that concluded on Monday, March 12. Jean McNair classrooms selected a country to represent in the Jean McNair Olympics and could earn points for their country by submitting posters and reports about their country, bringing in newspaper articles about the Olympics, and competing in classroom decorating.

They could also earn points by completing reading challenges, such as reading 3 books from the same author, reading a book that is 25 cm tall or reading with a partner for 7 days. Students participated in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) events in the Library where they experimented with tracks and mini skiers. They then looked at the center of gravity with ice skaters and mini-motorized robots.

It’s been a close race and students have learned many things about the Olympics and their countries. Students in the top three classrooms were awarded medals.

The gold medals went to:

Mrs. Draves' class, representing Germany with 1,045 points.

The silver medals went to Mrs. Coy's class, representing Austria with 1,010 points.

Finally, the Bronze medals were awarded to Miss Johnson's class, representing Norway with 628 points.

Congratulations to all the classes at Jean McNair.
