Gov. Pat Quinn announced his plan to slash 17% of all education funding for schools. The State of Illinois currently owes District 323 over $447,000 in back-payments. As a result, Superintendent Dennis Harezlak made recommendations to reduce our school district expenditures by over $500,000.
Winnebago District 323
Winnebago CUSD #323 is located in the Village of Winnebago and services students from five rural communities. Students and families from Burritt, Rockford, and Winnebago Township as well as from the Villages of Winnebago and Seward are part of our education family.
Winnebago CUSD #323 is a PreK-12 grade district that provides comprehensive, strong core academic programs. The district is comprised of one high school, one middle school, and three elementary schools.
Our mascot, the Winnebago Indian, is a copyrighted mascot that was researched and drawn by local artist Tom Heflin.
Registering to Vote
In cooperation with Winnebago County Clerk, residents of District #323 will now be able to register to vote at the District Office or in the office of any of the District’s schools. If you are new to the District or if you have moved since you last registered to vote, you can register at the school nearest you.

Winnebago CUSD #323 develops delayed start plan

Winnebago CUSD 323 is prepared to implement a delayed start for inclement weather days. Staff and families in the district would receive the information via the School Messenger notification system. The start time for school would be delayed by two hours.

Winnebago CUSD #323 students and staff are celebrating the news that all its schools and the district made Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) for the 2008-09 school year.
Winnebago CUSD #323 receives $1000 Wal-Mart Grant
Winnebago CUSD #323 received a $1,000 grant from Wal-Mart of Rockford. The grant money will be used to support all of school activities and to purchase new equipment and upgrade our facilities.

Winnebago CUSD #323 received a $296,000 federal grant Enhancing Education Through Technology (EETT or E2T2).
Main campus parking and drop off locations
At Winnebago CUSD #323’s campus on Elida, there have been changes made to the bus line-up area, student, staff, and visitor parking, as well as student pick-up and drop off locations for middle and high school.
